My name is Devakumar and I am born in a traditional Hindu family. I am the first son born to my parents. I have a younger sister and a younger brother.When I was 5 years old, my parents accepted Jesus and consecrated me with a Christian name.
In my family, except my mother and father, all other relatives lived traditionally and we only went to church. But we were living as nominal Christians. My mother had a sudden mental breakdown. I will be 8 years old then. My mother became ill and would injure her body like a madman would.
We visited many hospitals. Not fully trusting in Jesus. We went to all the places that everyone told us, but nowhere did it get better.
Then a man of God told my mother to go to a church and pray. But we were running late. On the one side my mother's condition became very bad and then went near to death. With no other choice we took her to pray. We went on a Friday fasting prayer.
At the end of the prayer they prayed for my mother. After praying it was witchcraft against my mother and buried at the door of our house. That is why the prophet who said that this is the problem and then prayed to my mother came to our house and took the things that had been done witchcraft. Then they burned it.
A few days later, my mother recovered completely. My mother and father dedicated me to the service of God for this miraculous healing done by Jesus. I don't know about this.
A VBS class was going on at our church when i was 11 years old then. In my VBS class the teacher asked what do you want to be in the future and everyone said one by one some said doctor some engineer some said police but without realizing it I said I want to become a servant of God
I forgot the words I was told in my 11th year old VBS class. I used to live like others in the worldly life. I was enslaved to the world's pleasures and lust. After my 12th class exam my life became very bad and I used to live like a rowdy.My relatives are in politics so I wanted to become like them. One day, on the day Rajiv Gandhi was killed, we went as a group with weapons in our hands to kill someone.
He fell unconscious after hitting someone there. Then I hid in fear and one day that week God met me through a dream.
12th class exam results declared. I passed it. Then I went to my pastor to pray that I can study civil engineering further. Then the pastor prayed for me and prophesied that I would commit to ministry at the age of 11. He told me that God has marked you for ministry and asked me to study in Arts College. Then I devoted myself to ministry and stayed in the church for 2 years. I was doing helping ministry to my pastor even went wherever the pastor went and helped.
In 1993, God gave me a dream in which a church was laid with cement sheets and painted white. I entered it and it was dark so I lit a candle. There was a crowd of men on one side, women on the other and children are filled . I had a bag slung over my shoulder and took out the bread from the bag and gave it to them. People eagerly bought and ate it.
I told my pastor about this dream but he told me not to take it too seriously and just pray.
Then he sent me to preach in the branch ministry and conduct cell prayer. I have been doing it faithfully out of fear of God. Then in 1994, due to some misunderstanding, I and the Pastor had some regrets. Some unpleasant things happened and I was mentally hurt. I was humiliated by some inappropriate words for a mistake I did not make. So I left the church. Then I became Hatred about the God’s ministry. I hated the ministry and said no to it.
From 1995 to 1997, I started PSK Traders because I wanted to rise in the society and do my father's construction business and somehow become big. In those days, I hated the church and ministry and went far away from God. I am more interested in global friendship.
In the year 1997, I became a debtor due to the business I had done in my life due to backslide life. and I left home and lived in hiding for 6 months at my sister's house in Vellore Kilmanavur.
I got married on 10th June 1998. God gave me a wife who got Salvation was anointed by God and wishful in God’s ministry. After that My wife and I were running a prayer cell in Enjampakkam, Kasthuribai nagar, Chennai through the Bethel AG church. Then by God's grace He helped start another prayer cell at Rajendra Nagar in Neelangarai. Some of the people there accepted God and got baptized. Then we brought them to church every Sunday through a van. My pastor who saw this Rev.Paulraj Manikkam asked to start a branch church at the place where the prayer cell is held and hold it there instead of bringing it every week.
We also started, then God gave us the grace to give 4 days evening times in a week to God on one side while doing worldly work. We have been doing ministry Sunday worship, Friday fasting prayer, Tuesday and Wednesday prayer sell. But my wife was praying with tears that I should do God's work full time.
The Lord convinced me through some dreams to dedicate myself to full time ministry. Pastor Paul Mani from Neelangarai, Chennai used to come to meet me. Whenever he comes to meet me he prophesies that God will call you to full time ministry.
But I kept hardening my mind. Already my sister and her husband were running a ministry called Good Shepherd Jesus Prayer House in Kilmanavoor village in Vellore district. Due to some problem between them both of them got separated. The believers in the church were scattered.
There were only a few believers and little children. Although my mother and father often told me to hold that church, I lived without accepting it. On the morning of January 24, 2008, when I went to urinate, it was as if someone hit me on the back of the head and I immediately fainted and fell down.
The only thing I know is that I fell and when I woke up I was in the hospital. The Lord has revealed in my heart words of calling for His ministry. But I have no desire to devote myself to fulltime ministry. I kept wandering around looking for hospitals as my health got worse. I took many scan tests (head, neck, stomach, and ear) for 6 months.
My money was wasted in the hospital. Finally I went to see a doctor who was a friend of my wife's brother. He looked at all my test reports and told me to stay out and call my father-in-law in and ask him to take your son-in-law to a mental hospital. he said his mood is affected. Then I asked my father-in-law what the doctor said and he told me nothing. But he has told this news to my wife. Then I came to know through my wife. And then my hard heart was broken.
Then God inspired me to conduct the church which was leading by my sister and we came here as family to Vellore in November 2008 to conduct the church here. However, we did not conduct it completely and only conducted it 3 days a week (Friday fasting prayer, Saturday waiting prayer, Sunday worship) and use to go back to chennai. Then after a few months, God asked me to lead the church which was leads by my sister in Vellore.
For that I waited at the feet of God for 21 days with a fast. On the 18th day God revealed to me clearly. God revealed to me that the church should be called Calvary Jesus Prayer House. Then on 19th and 20th January 2009, Bishop Mano Daniel (Faith Manuscript Society, Chennai) Anointed with keeping oil on heads me and my wife for full-time ministry in a Pastor’s meeting held at the YMCA campus, Elagiri, among more than 200 Pastors.
For that I waited at the feet of God for 21 days with a fast. On the 18th day God revealed to me clearly. God revealed to me that the church should be called Calvary Jesus Prayer House. Then on 19th and 20th January 2009, Bishop Mano Daniel (Faith Manuscript Society, Chennai) Anointed with keeping oil on heads me and my wife for full-time ministry in a Pastor’s meeting held at the YMCA campus, Elagiri, among more than 200 Pastors.
Then my wife and I did the ministry of this Calvary Jesus Prayer House in Vellore. When I came here I saw the same scene that God showed me in a dream in 1993. God reminded me of that. God reminded me as soon as I saw the same white wall and cement seat roof, the door of the church facing east, the shepherd less people. I sincerely praise God for that. Then after the completion of that year's education of my children, we joined the school in Vellore and did the ministry of God as a family in Vellore town.
Then God gave me the fellowship of Rev. O.E Varghese. He used to come once a month and give a Communion and bring Message. A few months passed, then in August 2010, Rev.O.E Varghese anointed me and my wife with two daughters in the middle of the church. Since then God has been giving grace to me to give communion and baptism in church. Till today our relationship has been like that of father and son.
On July 12, 2010, Calvary Jesus Prayer House was registered by the government as Calvary Jesus Prayer House Trust and received the government's tax exemption 12AA certificate and is audited every year and God has graced us to run the ministry.
In 2011, God helped to start a branch in a place called Vasanthapuram (next to Kannamangalam) in Tiruvannamalai district. Some people there have accepted Jesus and joined the church and are worshiping God. Then through this branch church, God started another branch church in the same district the place called Kolathur in the year 2014 and provided full time pastors for it. People were saved and included in the church. After that, in 2018, God helped the church to start another branch church in a rented house in Ratnagiri in Ranipet district through a believer’s family. So far, God has been conducting these three branches of ministry.
In 2017, some weakness in my body led me to suffering. I lay in bed with tears in my eyes and prayed to God, exhausted by the weakness that had taken over my body. At that time, God put some words in my mind. Then the Holy Spirit helped me to sing those words in my tongue. I made a voice recording of it on the button phone I had at that time. Then we combined those recorded songs with music and recorded them as demo songs and worshiped God in the church and glorified God. Then in 2018, God helped us to record these songs as ACD and put a CD called Kartharin Kirubaye. Later, we publish a song book containing 176 songs as kartharin Kirubaye. Presently these songs are 386 and God has given them 2 song books. God has helped to bless many children of God by publish some songs as lyrics videos on YouTube.
Through our Calvary Jesus Prayer House, God is helping the missionaries to support them and send them a monthly grant. God has been helping to support many missionaries so far. Missionary Sudar Kansari and Surendra Harijan in Kandhamal Kalahandi district in Odisha are helping us through our church. God helped to build Calvary Jesus Mission Church in a village in Darjeeling district of West Bengal where many people are worshiping God. Then we support a missionary Radhe Tudi in a village called Ramgarh in the state of Jharkhand. God is also helping to build one more mission church in a village called Borang in the same state of Jharkhand.
